EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
In 1996, Beck Weathers' wife was told he had died on Mount Everest. But thousands of miles away, her husband was still alive, lying unconscious in the snow at an altitude where survival seemed almost impossible.
On May 10, 1996, Beck, a pathologist from Dallas, Texas, was attempting to climb Mount Everest as part of an expedition led by experienced guide Rob Hall.
During the ascent, Beck developed serious problems with his vision and was forced to abandon his summit attempt.
