Pope Leo is now officially confirmed cancer-free after lung surgery

Before, doctors found a small spot at the base of the right lung of the pope by chance, during routine exams. On October 13, surgeons at Rome's Gemelli hospital removed the lower lobe of that lung. His surgeon said the pope put his heart and soul into recovery.

Now final tests confirmed the cancer of the pope stayed in one place and never spread. The 71-year-old pope needs no further treatment, and Pope Leo is officially cancer-free in the eyes of his doctors.
